TITLE IV-A:

STUDENT SUPPORT AND ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT

AHCS has received a Grant through the Idaho State Department of Education (SDE) for Title IV-A funds for the 2017-18 school year.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed into law in December 2015, which reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA) Act of 1965. Newly authorized under subpart 1 of Title IV, Part A of the ESEA is the Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) program intended to increase the capacity of State Education Entities and local schools and communities to: 1) provide all students with access to a well-rounded education, 2) improve school conditions for learning, and 3) improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.

SAFE AND DRUG-FREE SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES

AHCS has, in prior years, received a Grant through the Idaho State Department of Education (SDE) for Title IV-A funds for Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities. AHCS has used these funds for teacher training and professional development in AHCS's character education and anti-bullying programs, including our Great Expectations program.

Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) program in Title IV, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), is no longer funded. The SDFSC provided state and local education agencies with supplemental funding to develop and enhance education programs targeting violence prevention and drug prevention for students and employees in elementary and secondary schools.
